She’s Awesome broke her maiden on Wednesday at Parx taking control at the quarter mile marker and winning in geared down fashion by open lengths. Breaking from the 5-post She’s Awesome prompted the pace four-wide early, took over when ready on the turn then pulled away under moderate coaxing.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “There’s no substitute for class relief. She won this one with gas left over in the tank. She’s a nice filly and I’m glad to get this win.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “It’s nice to see this filly finally get her diploma. She’s been knocking on the door for a while. It seems like she’s finally figuring it out. This was a nice win for the partners and for the horse.”
She’s Awesome earned $19,200 for Wednesday’s win.

Breaking from post 1 SainthoodForBrian was a bit restless in the gate, trailed early, switched out and advanced between runners four-wide early on the turn, moved out five-to-six wide late on that bend, and evened out in the drive.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “He’s really developing into a nice horse for us. He can compete with other talented horses and she’s sound. I like this horse quite a bit.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “If he could only learn to get into the race a little quicker, he’d be a very serious force. As it is he has a very strong rally. He’s a nice horse and always gives the partners an honest effort.”

Breaking from post 8 (program number 1A) Inevtabl Conection moved in early while going to the front, lost the advantage at the eleven-sixteenths, then tracked the new leader, was urged two-to-three-wide on the turn, took the lead inside the five-sixteenths, battled inside of the winner under a drive into the final furlong, then lost the advantage and was outfinished while well clear for the place.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “This horse took a huge step forward today facing some serious competition and going longer than I felt he could go. This horse always seemed to be a 5 to 5 1/2 furlong horse. Seemingly, the shorter the better. To see him carry his distance beyond 6 furlongs is very nice.”

Antonio of Venice coasted to a four-length victory in his maiden breaker on Thursday at Saratoga. Breaking from the 4-post Antonio of Venice coaxed from the gate, raced three-wide off the duel advancing to take command just inside the five sixteenths, swung three to four wide into upper stretch, and edged clear under a drive to prevail.
We spoke with trainer Rudy Rodriguez after the race and Rudy said, “He’s been training light’s out and I had a very strong feeling going into this race. He’s a very nice horse and I can’t wait to see what he’s going to do next.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “This horse has been nothing but straightforward since the day we bought him. The goal was to get him to the races this summer and we met that goal. He’s been knocking on the door since his debut. Having a 2-year-old break its maiden at Saratoga is always sweet. This win is all for the partners. The excitement is palpable.”
Antonio of Venice earned $46,650 in purse money and $9,130 in New York-bred Open Owner Award bonuses for Thursday’s win.

Ace Up Her Sleeve coasted to an easy victory at Colonial Downs on Friday taking the field gate to wire and drawing off to a 6-length win as the 1-9 favorite. Ace Up Her Sleeve breaking from post 2 (program number 3) set a pressured pace on the inside while in hand, made a bid leaving the turn to shake clear, then drew off to prove much the best.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “That was a very sweet win. It’s great to have this filly finally get her diploma. She’s a nice horse and we should be able to have fun with her as we go forward.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “We had this filly get Virginia-certified and, as soon as Colonial Downs opened Steve targeted this race. This was a huge payoff for a horse that went off at 1-9. You rarely get these kinds of situations and you have to be ready to take full advantage when they arise. This is a great check for the partners.”

Inevtabl Conection ran an extremely strong second on Friday pressing the pace from the outset only to get caught a few strides from the wire by the eventual winner. Breaking from post 2 (program number 4) Inevtabl Conection disputed the pace two-wide outside Ship the Goods, gained a slim lead nearing mid-stretch, battled on between rivals leaving the sixteenth pole, kept on valiantly to the inside of the winner through the final sixty yards, but wasn't quite good enough.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “He ran a huge race for us today. This field came up tough and he responded. He’s a very nice horse. He showed us he can run on any surface. It’s always nice to have a versatile horse.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “He put up a career high Beyer Speed Figure in this race. Coming out of the turn I thought we might win. By Maya Prince was just too good. This race was great excitement for the partners. We’ll take the second place money and try again.”

SainthoodForBrian ran an impressive third on Friday after blowing the break then rallying to get up for third in the final strides. Breaking from post 3 (program number 5) SainthoodForBrian off a bit slow, was taken to rate well off the leaders, swung six wide for the drive and leveled off nicely to gain through the final furlong.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “After being out of it early he rallied like a freight train. With a clean break he might have won the race. He can run on dirt of turf and it’s great to have a versatile horse.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “He ran a big race for us. He really showed me something today. This field came up tough. Couple that with having difficulties at the break and it very easily could have been a toss out. To see him overcome all the adversity and almost win was just simply impressive. Antonio of Venice ran a very strong third in his second career race on Friday at Belmont Park stumbling badly at the break then rallying gamely in the stretch. Breaking from the 7-post Antonio of Venice stumbled at the start, chased three wide under coaxing from the three-eighths, angled four wide into upper stretch, and offered up a mild kick.
We spoke with trainer Rudy Rodriguez after the race and Rudy said, “He stumbled three times at the start. He still finished strong. He ran a good race.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “He went to his knees at the break. Then, getting back on his feet he slammed into the horse to his right. This cost him a lot of position. A young inexperienced horse might have just packed it in after that. This horse collected himself, then went out into the three-path and squeezed between horses down the lane to get up for third. No one was getting to the winner today as he was much the best. With a clean trip we probably get second. This horse has all the makings of a really nice New York-bred. This is very exciting for the partners.”

Breaking from post 1 SainthoodForBrian settled mid-pack, saved ground early on the turn racing inside, angled out two to three deep coming to the quarter, then guided out further at the top of the stretch, ran on but needed more.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “He broke a little flat-footed which immediately cost him position. He then wound up chasing the winner from the rail of a deep and speed-favoring track. He ran well and was trying to the end.”

Ruler of the Night ran a very strong second in her Monday race at Finger Lakes pressing a hot pace, taking a brief lead, then ultimately getting run down by the 9-5 favorite. Breaking from post 6 Ruler of the Night was away best, vied for the lead four-wide on the turn, battled, kicked clear with a sixteenth left, and then was caught late.
We spoke with trainer Jeff Englehart after the race and Jeff said, “It was a tough beat today. He gets better with every race. I love the potential with this filly.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “John gave her a masterful ride today. She was beaten by a filly with a previous 74 Beyer who almost won a Maiden Special Weight downstate. Ruler of the Night ran a big race. For a second I thought we were going to win. It’s nice for the partners to pick up a good check and enjoy an extremely exciting race.”

SainthoodForBrian won in very impressive fashion on Thursday dueling with the early pacesetter then taking him out in the late stages of the race to win going away. SainthoodForBrian vied throughout and inched clear late in a driving finish.

She’s Awesome ran a very good second in her Saturday race at Monmouth Park stalking the eventual gate-to-wire 2-1 favorite winner, settling for a good second finishing 12 lengths ahead of the rest of the field. Breaking from the 4-post She’s Awesome chased close-up three-wide, chased on the turn, rallied two-wide into the lane, and came up second best.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “She’s a very useful and honest horse. She always gives you a solid race. Her bad luck is that she continually runs into a monster. She’ll win the Maiden Special Weight for us. She’s a nice horse to have on the roster.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “She’s got seconditis. But it hasn’t been her fault at all. She just keeps catching the wrong horse. She’ll get through eventually and in the meantime, she’s earning checks and giving the partners a lot of fun. I like this filly quite a bit.”
She’s Awesome earned $11,500 for Saturday’s second place finish.

Antonio of Venice ran an impressive second in his Friday debut at Belmont Park chasing a hot pace and being second best to a typical Wesley Ward precocious runner. Breaking from the 4-post Antonio of Venice was hustled from the gate, showed the way along the inside under pressure from the get-go, spun just off the inside into upper stretch shaking off his main pace rival while being confronted by the top one, dug in gamely fighting on head-to-head until shaken off inside the sixteenth marker, while finishing willingly for the place honors, well clear of the rest.
We spoke with trainer Rudy Rodriguez after the race and Rudy said, “This horse was very straightforward from the day he got here. He trained on and was ready to go today. He’ll win for fun next time.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “We hand-selected this horse at the OBS Sale using a combination of statistical analysis, visual inspection, and veterinary examination. He checked every single box. This horse has the potential to be an extremely exciting horse for our partners. I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Ace Up Her Sleeve chased four to five-wide down the back stretch and then three-wide through the turn coming under coaxing at the three-eighths, went six to seven-wide into upper stretch, and offered up a mild kick to secure the show honors.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “The race came off the turf and I decided to take a shot and leave her in. The jock said that it took her a little while to get her feet under her and comfortable with the footing. Once she collected herself she ran very nicely.”

Breaking from the 1-post Ruler of the Night was away best, vied for the lead along the two-path, battled inside to no avail but bested the rest.
We spoke with trainer Jeff Englehart after the race and Jeff said, “She was trying to get out quite a bit. The rider had to battle with her and that cost us the early advantage we had with the sharp break. She might get an equipment change next race.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “She ran well. This was her first start off the layoff, but she did everything we expected to do. We’re looking forward to her next race.”

Breaking from the 3-post She’s Awesome set the pace in the two path, was nudged along rounding the turn, cued while floating out to the five path into the lane, yielded to the winner passing the eighth pole, but held on to place.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “I didn’t expect the race flow to go like it did. I expected the two first-timers to go to the lead allowing us to stalk. When Vita de Vito blew the break and Party Favor was slow we inherited the lead. It was a fast pace but it didn’t really matter. The winner was much the best.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “The winner was just too good today. We keep running into these big dollar 3-year-olds making their debut on their way to bigger things. Nonetheless, we ran a good race and picked up a nice check. Gleaming Brutality ran a good third in her race at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday. Gleaming Brutality was reserved off the early pace while racing two-wide, moved up to take the lead after three furlongs, opened clear and then gave way after being headed nearing the eighth pole.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “A few things worked against her today. The distance was 7 furlongs. The pace was very fast going 22 and change and 45 and change. She was hard to rate; she just wanted to go. She got burned up a bit too early and the extra distance was too much and it did her in. If the race was 6 furlongs she would have won.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “I think 7 furlongs is a bit beyond her scope. She should be able to knock out this condition and we’ll just bring her back and try again next time.”
Gleaming Brutality earned $1,350 for Saturday’s third place finish.

Happyize ran a strong second in his race at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday yielding in the stretch yet finishing 6 lengths in front of the rest of the field. Happyize prompted the pace set by Peinadito early, moved up to gain a slight advantage nearing the quarter pole, responded when challenged by the winner, but was unable to stay with that one late.

Ruler of the Night breezed on Monday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 50.20 at Finger Lakes. That work was 5 of 5 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Jeff Englehart after the breeze. He said, "Today's is her second breeze since coming in off the farm. She worked great. She’s training well and this morning she was on the bridle. I’m very pleased."
Jeff will breeze Ruler of the Night on a 7 to 10-day breeze schedule training her up to a return race.
The Laoban colt breezed on Monday working 3 furlongs on the dirt in 38.05 over the Belmont Park Training Track. That work was 9 of 27 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Rudy Rodriguez after the breeze. He said, "He came out of the sale in very good order and I decided to just go on with him. I’m giving him some education around the gate and today was his first breeze and he worked very nicely."
Rudy will breeze The Laoban colt on a 7 to 10-day breeze schedule training him to a debut in New York.
Singing the Oldies breezed on Saturday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 49.68 at Gulfstream Park. That work was 44 of 92 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the breeze. He said, "This filly is doing extremely well. She breezed very nicely this morning."
Steve will continue to train Singing the Oldies up to her next race.
LionessOfBrittany breezed on Friday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 48.28 at Gulfstream Park. That work was 7 of 31 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the breeze. He said, "I've been trying to get her into a race for the past few days. It hasn't been used and they keep bringing it back. I can't be sure it's going to go so I gave her a leg-stretcher this morning."
Steve will keep LionessOfBrittany fresh as he tries to get her entered to her next race.
Ace Up Her Sleeve ran a very strong third in her Friday race at Gulfstream Park setting the pace then yielding to the odds-on favorite late in the race. Ace Up Her Sleeve set the pace in the two-path, fought on inside of the top two to deep stretch, and held on for the show.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the race and Steve said, “She’s a very honest horse. She’s a New York-bred and she’s going to be very tough to handle when she’s in with her own kind back in New York.”
We also spoke with Hibiscus Stables CEO Mike Oliveto after the race. Mike said, “She continues to flash talent. I look forward to watching her campaign over the summer in New York.”
Ace Up Her Sleeve earned $4,300 for Friday’s third place finish.
We’ll see how Ace Up Her Sleeve comes out of the race and Steve will point her accordingly, probably in a turf race at Aqueduct.
Lita breezed on Sunday working 4 furlongs on the dirt in 49.40 at Tampa Bay Downs. That work was 21 of 100 at the distance.
We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the breeze. He said, "She's doing great. We might get her one more start in Florida before we move back to New York. I'm going to look to see what races are out there for her and then make a decision."
Steve will keep Lita fresh as we identify her next race.

She drew post position 1 and jockey Javier Castellano is named to ride. Castellano is currently ranked 6th in the Gulfstream Park jockey standings with 36 wins and a 14% winning percentage.

We spoke with trainer Steve Klesaris after the breeze. Steve said, “He breezed great and he’s doing great. I expect he’ll be ready to run in a week or two.”
Steve will prepare Tiger Blood for a return race in the early part of April.
